Before pairing Apple Watch with a new iPhone
Have the Apple Account password and Apple Watch passcode ready. Connect the old and new iPhones to Wi-Fi, update the available software, and charge the Watch and new iPhone to at least 50 percent. Back up the old iPhone because its backup also includes Apple Watch data.
Transfer Apple Watch during iPhone setup
- Set up the new iPhone with the most recent iCloud or encrypted computer backup.
- When the iPhone asks whether you want to use Apple Watch, keep the Watch unlocked and on your wrist, then tap Continue.
- Follow the onscreen steps and wait for the Watch data to finish syncing.
If the prompt does not appear, keep the Watch unlocked and nearby, open the Apple Watch app on the new iPhone, and follow the pairing instructions.
When the new iPhone says Start Pairing
The Watch may still be paired with the previous iPhone. Unpair it first, then return to the new iPhone and pair again. Restore the most recent available backup when prompted.

If you also have a spare Watch
Once pairing is complete, a separate spare Watch can stay paired to the same iPhone for another job. A compatible RePod Apple Watch case gives that spare a handheld form. Check its exact generation and size before ordering.
Pairing FAQ
Does an iPhone backup include Apple Watch data?
Apple says an iPhone backup also backs up Apple Watch. Health and Activity data require iCloud Health syncing or an encrypted computer backup.
Can two Apple Watches pair with one iPhone?
Compatible Watches can be paired with one iPhone and selected in the Watch app. The exact setup depends on the Watch models, Apple Account, carrier plan, and current Apple software.
