Spencer Scott Pugh enjoys RePod as an object in his hand: the feel of his unit, the buttons and the wheel he keeps playing with. His old Apple Watch Series 7 becomes a small handheld device, and he likes the idea of carrying less of his smartphone with him.
His RePod review is candid about both the attraction and the friction. He is interested in keeping music and contact close during family time; getting comfortable with a handheld Watch still takes some adjustment.
TL;DR — What They Love About RePod
- The feel of his unit and its buttons.
- The wheel’s fidget-like appeal.
- A compact body for the Watch he already owns.

Less phone, with something enjoyable to hold
Spencer talks about wanting separate devices for things such as music and communication. RePod interests him because it brings those Watch functions into a small physical object. He enjoys pressing its buttons and turning the wheel, even while wishing the center button could do more. The center is decorative.
Family nights and weekends are the occasions he has in mind. A camera remains important to him, though: he personally wants one on his device. Apple Watch has no iPhone-style camera, so family photos may still mean bringing a phone or a separate camera.
A familiar shape takes a different habit
Spencer notices a little initial wheel travel before scrolling starts on his unit. He also has to get used to Apple Watch navigation inside a body that reminds him of an iPod. Its shape feels familiar; the software still follows the Watch.
He runs into two other obstacles: Siri cannot connect at his studio, and Spotify asks him to sign in. RePod changes the physical form, so the Watch’s connections and app accounts still matter. Cellular use away from the iPhone needs a supported Watch, an active plan and coverage. For SMS/MMS and third-party push notifications, Apple requires the paired iPhone to remain powered on and online.
