Before pairing Apple Watch with a new iPhone
Have the Apple Account password and Apple Watch passcode ready. Connect the old and new iPhones to Wi-Fi, update the available software, and charge the Watch and new iPhone to at least 50 percent. Back up the old iPhone because its backup also includes Apple Watch data.
Transfer Apple Watch during iPhone setup
- Set up the new iPhone with the most recent iCloud or encrypted computer backup.
- When the iPhone asks whether you want to use Apple Watch, keep the Watch unlocked and on your wrist, then tap Continue.
- Follow the onscreen steps and wait for the Watch data to finish syncing.
If the prompt does not appear, keep the Watch unlocked and nearby, open the Apple Watch app on the new iPhone, and follow the pairing instructions.
When the new iPhone says Start Pairing
The Watch may still be paired with the previous iPhone. Unpair it first, then return to the new iPhone and pair again. Restore the most recent available backup when prompted.

Decide what the previous Watch should do next
An upgrade can leave a working Watch without a role. You can keep two Watches paired to one iPhone, pass one to a family member after removing Activation Lock, or use the previous Watch for focused music and everyday tools. A compatible RePod Apple Watch case gives it a handheld form; check the exact model and size first.

Can two Apple Watches pair with one iPhone?
