The Techpod RePod outer wheel mechanically turns the Digital Crown on the Apple Watch inside it. In supported apps, that can control scrolling or volume. What happens depends on the app and watchOS. The center circle is decorative and doesn't control the Watch.
That distinction matters if an iPod-shaped device caught your eye. You get a larger wheel to turn with your thumb, while the Apple Watch remains the device running your music and other apps. Knowing which control does which job makes the first few minutes much easier.
Three controls to understand
RePod doesn't install a different music interface. If your music app has a play button on the screen, use that on-screen button. The round center of the case isn't a substitute for it.
The current RePod product page explains the mechanical Crown connection and center-button behavior. Treat the controls you see in a particular demonstration as an example of that setup, not a promise that every Watch app responds the same way.
| What you use | What to expect |
|---|---|
| RePod outer wheel | Mechanical movement of the Watch's Digital Crown; scrolling or volume where the active app supports it. |
| Center circle | Decorative. It doesn't send play/pause, selection or other commands to Apple Watch. |
| Apple Watch touchscreen | The Watch's on-screen buttons and gestures, including selecting items and using playback controls. |
Try the Watch before you put it in the case
Start with a charged, unlocked Watch. Open the app you plan to use and turn its Digital Crown. Notice what changes on that screen. A list may move; a playback screen may offer volume control. If the Crown doesn't perform the action you want there, putting the Watch in RePod won't add that action.
This is also a useful moment to check the touchscreen. Can you open your chosen album, start playback and return to the previous screen? Set up the app first, while you can clearly separate a Watch or app issue from a case-fitting issue.
For music, keep your listening volume comfortable before testing. If you want to use downloaded audio away from your phone, make sure the download is complete and playable in your chosen app. That preparation belongs to Apple Watch and the music service, rather than the case.
Fit first, then turn
Match the RePod version to both your Watch generation and case size. Follow the Techpod installation instructions for seating the Watch and closing the case. Don't force a Watch into a near-match or press harder to overcome unexpected resistance.
With the Watch seated, wake and unlock it as needed. Return to the same app and screen you tried earlier. Turn the outer wheel gently and check whether the screen responds. Comparing the same screen before and after fitting is more useful than switching between several apps at once.
If you're buying a case for a spare Watch, our RePod fit guide helps you identify the combination before ordering.
If the wheel isn't doing what you expect
First, check that you're turning the outer ring rather than pressing the center. Next, check that the Watch is awake and unlocked and that you're on a screen where its Digital Crown normally does something.
If the Crown worked before installation but the wheel doesn't produce that response, stop and check the model match and seating against the instructions. Avoid forcing the wheel, tightening parts beyond the instructions or opening the mechanism to investigate.
Contact sales@itechpod.com if the problem continues. Send your order number, Watch generation and size, app name and a short description or video of the behavior. Those details help distinguish fit, app behavior and a possible product issue.
Choose it for the way you want to carry it
RePod is useful when you want your compatible Watch in your hand or pocket, with a larger wheel under your thumb. You might keep a spare Watch beside your headphones or carry it while wearing a mechanical watch.
The change is physical. Your apps, storage, battery and network connection still come from Apple Watch. If that arrangement fits your day, choose the RePod model for your Watch and start with the one app you most want close at hand.
Common questions
Does the RePod wheel work?
The outer wheel mechanically turns the Apple Watch Digital Crown. Its effect depends on the active app and watchOS; supported actions include scrolling or volume.
Why doesn't the center button pause my music?
The center circle is decorative. Use the music app's on-screen playback controls.
Does RePod add a Bluetooth connection to the Watch?
The wheel's link to the Digital Crown is mechanical. RePod doesn't supply a new network connection; your Watch provides its own connectivity.
