Try a standard Apple Watch restart first
- Take Apple Watch off its charger.
- Press and hold the side button until the sliders appear.
- Tap the power button and drag the Power Off slider.
- After the Watch turns off, hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
Restart the paired iPhone as well when the problem involves syncing, notifications, or a connection between the two devices.
How to force restart Apple Watch
Use a force restart only when the Watch will not turn off normally. Hold the side button and Digital Crown together for at least 10 seconds. Release both controls when the Apple logo appears.

What to check after the restart
- Confirm that the paired iPhone is nearby when the task requires it.
- Check Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular, app, and account status for the feature you are testing.
- Install current compatible software when Apple recommends an update.
- Use Apple Support when the Watch stays frozen, will not charge, or repeatedly restarts.
Restart FAQ
Can Apple Watch restart while charging?
Apple’s current guide says Apple Watch cannot restart while it is charging. Remove it from the charger before a standard restart.
Does a force restart erase Apple Watch?
No. A force restart reboots the Watch. Erasing content and settings is a separate reset process.
After troubleshooting
A working Watch can return to its normal role or gain a lighter one. If it fits the current selector, a RePod Apple Watch case can hold it in a handheld pocket-player form without changing the Watch software.
